Once your account is verified, you need funds to trade. There are two main ways to do it on Bitget: deposit crypto you already own, or buy crypto directly. This guide covers both — and the one mistake that costs beginners real money.
Option 1: Deposit crypto you already own
If you hold crypto in another wallet or exchange:
- Go to Assets → Deposit.
- Select the coin you want to deposit (e.g. USDT).
- Choose the correct network (e.g. TRC20, ERC20, BEP20).
- Copy the deposit address — or scan the QR code.
- Send from your other wallet to that address on the same network.
⚠️ The #1 rule: The network on the sending side and receiving side must match. Sending USDT on ERC20 to a TRC20 address can mean permanent loss of funds. Always double-check the network before confirming.
Option 2: Buy crypto directly
If you’re starting fresh:
- Go to Buy Crypto.
- Choose your local currency and the crypto you want.
- Select a payment method (card, bank transfer, or P2P).
- Confirm and follow the prompts.
Direct purchases are convenient but often carry higher fees than depositing from elsewhere. For larger amounts, depositing crypto is usually cheaper.
How long do deposits take?
- Crypto deposits: typically a handful of network confirmations — minutes to an hour depending on the chain.
- Card purchases: usually near-instant once approved.
Deposit safety checklist
- ✅ Correct coin selected
- ✅ Correct network selected
- ✅ Address copied exactly (or QR scanned)
- ✅ A small test transfer first, if sending a large amount
With funds in your account, you’re ready to place your first trade or explore copy trading.
